virus scanning in slowmotion

    Hello, my computer is running ok right now. I use AVG but when I scan my computer it scans very slow. It usually is done scanning in an hour, but now after an hour it's only scanned about 500 objects. It runs so slow it might as well not run at all. I don't know what to do about it because I will need to scan for viruses soon. Ad-aware ran fine and didn't detect much. Every thing else seems to be running fine for now but without AVG running properly I can't scan for viruses.

    I tried following those instructions. I think combofix and MGtools ran properly but the other two didn't. Spybot wouldn't run at all after I installed it, When I clicked on it nothing happened. And AVG wouldn't update or scan. I think I have the right log files here for combofix and MGtools.

    You said you use AVG but I see Avast???

    Also were you in the middle of an installation of Avast or had you not rebooted after installing Avast??? I see the below in your log:
    C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\setup\avast.setup

    Who is your ISP? ComCast or Verizon? Why do I see software and toolbars from both of them? Do you really need these toolbars? I would guess not. In fact in most cases, none of their software is required or desired.


    Based on your logs, you did not even install AVG Antispyware so I'm not sure why you are saying it would not update or scan.
