It seems someone has hijacked my Visa check card info. In two days, they spent 2K on goodies in northeastern PA, NY City, and northern New Jersey (I live in the Baltimore MD area). I of course went through channels to correct the problem, but it is killing me to know how they got my info. They have the know-how to make a fake card and link it to my account. I was wondering if it were possible my info could have been gotten from key logger? I only have an idea of what they are - not so much as to specifically how they work. I have done no out of the ordinary spending with my Visa check card. I have use it at Ebay, Amazon.com, PayPal, and QVC and that is about it.

Of course, anything is possible but I just thought take a shot. Are there scans for key loggers? I run AntiVir, ZoneAlarm, and MS AntiSpyware. Heck, I am not even sure if this is the correct forum for keylogger inquiries. I am just exploring all possibilities to protect myself.

    Any input is appreciated.

    Thanks.

Oh yeah, I hope Karma catches up to these pinheads real hard and fast. One charge was for like $58.12 in gas. I can just envision this #Q^%
@#) filling up his Escalade on my account!

Keyloggers are picked in during Anti-virus scans. More often than not personal information, such a credit/debit card nformation is obtained by "phishing" attacks.

I suggest running through our full system scan procedures, to make sure your system is malware free.

    Please follow the steps below:

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps below:

    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).
