Vista and virtual surround sound

    recently i added vista to another partition in my computer so that i can boot vista OR xp at choice by boot screen and when i try to play my standard stereo mp3 files in vista it tries to make them 5.1 mp3 files to match my speakers and it sounds really strange. does anyone know a way to make it so it plays the mp3s in stereo on my speakers like windows XP does?
