Vista and wireless printing

Having print problem w/ laptop + vista, okic3200n comm via usb w/ desktop (win XP) on wireless card. Ok untill desktop crashed w/virus then recovered by angel software, now will print from desktop but not laptop. (gives "cannot connect to shared printer on server"). Printers have been deleted, reinstalled, reconfigured, drivers reinstalled. Firewall and antivirus settings have been checked and verified. ANY Vista networking ideas??

Possibly some settings or permissions were changed by the software fix.

File and printer sharing permissions were checked first. I am thinking the problem may be corruption in the XP printer sharing because a p2p connection was set up with the same result. (crossover cable and direct connection). Even navigating to the printer set up on the desktop and attempting to print a test page failed with the same error message.

 

Well problem is definitely on Vista laptop. Another laptop was connected to the wireless network and the printer installed which worked flawlessly. This proves that the printer setup, sharing, desktop, and wireless network work properly and the Vista laptop is where the problem lies.
