Vista Home Basic,,Kaspersky IS 2010 wont Install

Hi all
I have an Acer Xpire X1200 with Win Vista Home Basic running on it..

My Goal;
I like to install kaspersky IS 2010

Problem; Kaspersky would quit before finishing installation..

My Guess; Lavasoft AVG is not uninstalling, thus causing Kaspersky installation problem..

Even though I tried many times to Uninstall Lavasoft AVG, It still shows up in the Ad/Remove programs list.. :cry
I ran "HijackThis" but I could not see /identify anything in regards to AVG,,in the scan result log.
( Windows Defender is also disabled )

Any suggestions ??

Welcome to Major Geeks!

This is really more of a Software Forum topic than it is a malware topic. However let's take a quick look at a few things. First let me mention something. Lavasoft is not the company that makes AVG! AVG was developed by Grisoft.

If you are having problems getting AVG removed, I suggest that you run the appropriate removal tool as given in the below link:

http://www.avg.com/us-en/download-tools

After running the removal tool, reboot your PC and then try installing Kaspersky. If still having a problem installing Kaspersky, tell us the exact error messages you received ( if you get any ). Then also run MGtools as stated in the below link and attach the MGlogs.zip file as requested
