ok on a new computer using Windows Vista home edition.

on my "desktop" that i can see on my screen, all the files point to "C:\Users\Public\Desktop", except a couple point to "C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop".

But i also have a "C:\Users\Name\Desktop" folder, which i would prefer to use -- why do i have 2 "desktop" folders and how can i get fixed?..

same deal but more annoying is my start menu folders (Documents, Pictures, Music) are all empty, 0 bytes, nothing.., but I DO have stuff saved to my pictures and documents folder, but it is in C:\Users\Name\Documents.. so i'm thinking it has something to do with the same problem as above?

your help will be greatly appreciated!

does my post not make sense? please excuse my ignorance.

i think a better way to explain it is that my C:\Users\dbcooper\Desktop folder is the only one I ever use, but it is never visible on my screen? same with my Documents and Music folders.

On my actual visual "desktop" all the files point to "C:\Users\Public\Desktop", except a couple point to "C:\Windows\system3\config\systemprofile\Desktop".

basically i want to know why my Start Menu folders (Documents, Pictures, Music, Games) are all empty (0 bytes) and have no path when I click on "Properties" -- however, on my other computer, the Start Menu folders are like they should be, and their path is C:/Users/Dbcooper/Documents.

that's how i want my visible desktop to be also, as C:/Users/Dbcooper/Desktop, instead of C:/Users/Public/Desktop.

    Please help.
