Vista OPSYS lockup!

    I have a locked up Acer Aspire 5100 Laptop w/Vista opsys. Cant access safe mode or startup repair. Keyboard and touchpad are inoperatable. have removed HD & placed in HD inclosure & have backed up my files on another HD. Recovery media from source referred to no longer available. Need help -- any suggestions?

    Greetings, Bowplus.

    Have you tried booting the machine with the battery pulled out? I know some Aspires have had boot problems because of bad battery packs.

    Thanks for response. Took battery out & a bunch of other things. Think we've determined that the usb bus is not functioning. Have plugged in alternate usb keyboard then mouse & neither have been acknowledged. At this point the solution appears to be hardware related. Thanks again.
