Volume stopped working HPDV5000

I have software volume control (as opposed to an actual volume dial) on my HP DV5000 laptop using two buttons +/-.

They recently stopped working but I can still use the volume control in >accessories>entertainment>volume

Any idea how to get the buttons working again?

Have you disabled any services recently?

I believe that the volume keys work using the HID Input Services - though it might be supported by HP's QuickLaunch software.

Try reinstalling the QuickLaunch software

Turns out I have a DV5215us, the bigger DV5000 must be a group model or something. The actual model number is way small under the rest of the info. I downloaded the quickplay .exe for the right one and it's fixed.

There used to be green bars on the screen when changing volume but they are gone which is an added bonus.
