VPN with L2TP tunneling

I am an absolute networking beginner and I need to do the following as part of a demonstration.

A virtual private network (VPN) is a private data network that makes use of the public telecommunication infrastructure, maintaining privacy through the use of a tunneling protocol and security procedures. This project involves the demonstration of a secure Layer 2 VPN using protocols such as L2TP.

I was just wondering the absolute most user friendly/simpliest way to perform this. I was considering using mobile broadband as this would avoid firewalls/filtering/etc from an organisations network.

I would just really appreciate suggestions on the best way to perform this demo.
