We are working on a friend's computer. It is apparantly giving a warning that says something like: "Memory Leak. Computer is about to crash." It has an Intel Celeron 996 MHz, with Windows XP Professional with only SP 1, with 256 MB of RAM. We are presently trying to do some clean-up, as well as a Scandisc & Defrag. Then we'll try a Virus Scan possible from PC-Pitstop. Just got it here to work on about a 1/2 hour ago. Any different or additional suggestions would be much appreciated! Any ideas about or experience with what the previously mentioned "Warning" might mean?

Thanks so much in advance for any suggestions!

    Hi,
Never seen that warning, maybe a popup add trying to get you to buy something indicating spyware problem. However it is possible for programs to leak memory and over time if the computer is on for long periods it can rob system resources and cause a freeze up. This was more common with windows 98 and Me but still can happen with any os and any program.
