Looking for some advice...just purchased a WD My Book Essential Edition HD. It will be used as a backup for my machine. Wondering if I should reformat the HD to NTFS as my machine is NTFS.

Main reason I ask is that when I use the File and Transfer settings wizard in Accesories (XP) it does not allow me to select "Floppy Drive or othr removeable media".

    Thanks

Yes. Format the drive as NTFS. In XP, you cannot format it as any other file system, and even if you could, you wouldn't want to. FAT32 has a limit of 32gb (actually, it can technically use up to 2tb in size, but sizes this large can only be configured using Windows ME). And NTFS has faster data access under Windows XP. Here's the technical info if you're interested: http://www.mcmcse.com/windows_xp/guides/filesystems.shtml

    :-D
