Weak audio-HP 533w

Hi I upgraded the RAM on my HP 533w to 1 GIG and after booting up the system I found that the audio was very weak. I have to max out the volume control just to hear audio. I have checked all volume controls, BIOS settings, etc. I checked the connections inside the PC to make sure tha I didn't bump against something and they all seem okay, nothing loose. The driver is a Realtek AC'97 Audio. I even restored my system to before the RAM upgrade without any help. It is like there is sound but without amplification. Can anyone help me? Thanks
