The Web of Trust add-on for both Firefox and Google Chrome has been pulled from the official add-on download sites
    due to serious privacy issues.

After a fresh install of Firefox, I was installing add-ons and could not find the WOT add-on.

In place of the WOT extension, I'm now using Bitdefender TrafficLight for Firefox 0.2.23.1-signed.1-signed.

    TrafficLight for Chrome 0.2.22:

It does not have a color coded icon or visual security rating within search engine results like WOT,
but it's protection is based on Bitdefender cloud based analysis instead of user opinion data like WOT.

This is the reason why I will not use WOT.

The really bad part is users data was being sold without anonymizing it.

That statement is true with DuckDuckGo and ixQuick StartPage search.
It does scan the entire page and an icon can be placed on the toolbar which is color coded.

With Google and Bing, each search result does have a colored icon just like WOT.

    I experienced a problem with this add-on.

After the browser is started, there is a CPU usage spike of 99.x% which last for up to 20 seconds.
The duration will probably differ per individual machine. My CPU is a 3.5GZ Intel Core i3-4330.
The computer is unresponsive during this time.

I had thought that it might be a problem with Firefox version 49, but it continued after updating to version 50.
Removing the TrafficLight add-on eliminated the CPU spike.

I am no longer using this add-on.
