    Hello. :)

    My problem is this:
My HDD capacity graph either on "My Computer" screen or in the Rainmeter skin graph acts weirdly.
Even after very small activity, I notice huge differences in the used space of my HDD.
    For instance:
One day at noon my graph showed that 292GB out of the 600GB were used.
But until the evening, while using my pc just surfing the net it reached 308GB out of 600GB which is just not normal. :confused

Before that I have completed the whole Malware removal guide because I had some other speed issues and I thought I should run them anyway. Before the scans the HDD graph showed that almost 400GB out of the 600GB were used (!!!) and after they were completed it dropped down to 292GB/600GB at noon like I mentioned above. But then of course in a matter of hours it increased like I mentioned also.
The weird activity was hapening even before making the scans for the malware removal proceedure.

The only thing that I can link this behavior with is me using lately the Diskeeper defrag program (which I downloaded from the official site), because the problem almost appeared when I started using it. Although I didnt use it between the noon and the evening after I did the scans which I mentioned above. (In fact I havent used it for a couple of days)

I hope my description was helpful. I will give any clarification needed to help you out helping me fix this.

    Thanks :)

Sorry but my 10-minute edit limit has expired so I'll have to make 2 new posts to attach the log files of my scans in case they are needed.

And the last one from Super Anti Spyware.
I will post both the log files from the two scans I made (one which I made without completing the whole malware removal guide and the other more recent when I completed all of it)

Of course you will see that in one scan a keygen file was found.
I no longer have any of these in my pc now that I know they are illegal (I am a pc newb, and I didnt now what "not open source" means, plus I am from Greece so not so accustomed with English terminology).

Thanks a lot. That was a relief to be honest.
Anyway I changed the limit of the System Restore Storage Space Usage Size to 10GB, which was initially at 89GB (gulp!). Is it enough?
Would I need more? I totally dont know how much would be needed and how, so I just put a number that seems logical... :confused

Anyway again thanks for the help! :)

Yes, it's most likely one of Vista's 'features'- the culprit is probably shadow copies/system restore, and it can be triggered by a defrag. Since you are using Diskeeper, you should ensure that you are defragging it in the VSS compatible defrag mode (which is recommended for Vista with VSS); in fact DK is one of the few defraggers that offer this useful feature that minimizes shadow copy activity during defrag.

Excessive disk activity can also come from pagefile activity, indexing and/or superfetch, but AFAIK, none of these will account for tons of space being used up.

Yes actually I did use Diskeeper on AutoDefrag mode and had enabled the VSS utility although I didnt really know what it was. :p

Ok I dont know what the last things you mentioned are either, but since you say it cant be them I wont worry. :p
    Thanks again!
