What are good options for virus & phishing protection for Outlook Express?

  1. I used to have such protection when I had AVG. I just realized my Microsoft Security Essentials does not protect Microsoft Outlook Express. How brilliant!

Cloudmark DesktopOne is one option for protecting Outlook. An app for ClamWin Free Antivirus is another option. I'm sure there must be many more options.

I am actually NOT much concerned about spam protection, because I am already getting good screening for that. It's virus and phishing protection that matter to me.

If you found AVG so good then why not just revert to it and forget MSE? As the main issue with emails is attachments if I'm in any doubt I save the attachment and scan it with my AV before opening it. Phishing is just common sense imo - if an email is asking for sensitive info then don't respond.
