What happened to my sound?

Well, I'm not entirely sure what's going on, but all the sounds from places like youtube and such have stopped playing. Stuff that does play is stuff on media center, the aol "you've got mail" things like that, but no videos online. Also I've tried to test the sound by going into control panel and playing various system sounds, but I cannot even click the play button for some reason. If anything is unclear, I can explain further. Help?

If you have XP as an OS
Go to your volume icon and double-click it. Make sure all your volumes are on and not muted in the Master Volume.
Second, goto Start>Run and type in: services.msc and hit Enter.(For Vista: Start>Search, type in Run, click on it when search finds it, and then type in services.msc and hit Enter.)
Scroll down until you find Windows Audio, double click on it and make sure it is running. If not start it.

If that doesn't solve your problem, goto your Device Manager
(For XP: Control Panel>System, click the Hardware tab, and click Device Manager.)
(For Vista: Control Panel>System and on the left side of the page, click Device Manager)
Click the plus sign in front of Sound, Video, and Game Controllers. Are there any yellow icons (question or exclamation marks) there?

We'll need your PC make and model #, your OS, and your your motherboard ID (if you know it.) You can get that info from either of these apps:

Ok, well its a sony vaio, I'm not entirely sure where to look for on the computer for the model number, its running xp media, and I'm not sure about the motherboard. Helpful aren't I. Also, would having too little free memory cause this?

Did you check your volume, windows audio service, and did you check in the device manager for driver problems?
Memory as in RAM or as in hard drive space?

Download, install, and run one of those apps, then post your specs back here. Make sure to tell me if you have driver problems in the device manager.

Ah yeah, I just looked at it but here you go. I did mean hard drive wise for the memory. None of the things you mentioned in your first post worked.

Set a system restore point. Go to My Computer, Right click on your C: drive, click properties, click disk clean-up. When the next window opens, click more options, then click system restore clean-up. Click OK at any pop-ups. That should get you some space back on your C: drive. (You can do that to D: also)
You can download CCleaner, which will clean all your temp files and garbage. but you don't need it right this minute.

Then, try this driver, it is for your sound card. (You never did say if you have driver problems)

Then let me know what's going on.
