Many years ago I bought PolderbitS' audio file recorder and editor. As recently as last Sept I contacted their support for a new access code (required when moving their software to a new PC).

Then last week I tried to e-mail them (with a question) and the e-mail bounced. Can no longer find their web site. They were based in Holland.

They seem to have just "disappeared."

Anyone know what happened to them?

I just did a search and found tons of sites that host the file.

Did you find the actual PolderbitS web site that was the site for the "company" that created the software? In addition to the Audio Recorder and Editor product they developed and offered a Video File Editor and DVD Creator.

Their trade mark was a Wind Mill with blades that actually turned. Cool! :)

No, only sites that hosted the program.

As at Feb 28, '16 no sign of PolderbitS official website. Definitely appears the business has terminated. What a shame. I have used PolderbitS Sound Recorder and Editor in the distant past and was considering purchasing the most recent version. The software is great for accurately splitting large audio files (albums) into their separate tracks. This can be done automatically. I know there's other software available that can also perform that task but PolderbitS is by far the best in my experience. I'm surprised the owners didn't sell the rights to the software to another business.

Also, this is another example of having limited installations available per purchased key code . You use those installs over a period of a few years then try to contact the company in order to install on your latest PC and the business no longer exists. It's happened to me several times. What's even more annoying is when a new business takes ownership of the software and they won't recognize that you have previously purchased the software, even if you provide them with proof of purchase.

I'm having the same issue - just found out they went under, need new access key for new laptop. What would folks recommend for freeware/shareware/low-cost audio recorder and editor for Windows 10?

(I know, I know, but Win10 came on the new laptop. I followed reddit recommendations for turning off all the privacy settings that come as default, so I'm hoping I'm covered...)

My OH has used Polderbits for years and it was a great shame to see it disappear a couple of years ago.
However, last week she was in the final editing for our local pantomime soundtrack in two weeks time and it stopped working!
Panic, she has Audacity but isn't too proficient with it......to cut a long story short...a system restore saved the day and Polderbits marches on!:)
This isn't the first time my life has been saved from computer purgatory, and no doubt won't be the last!

I tried Audacity years ago when it was the sh*t, but I found it difficult to use. Guess I better man up & try it again. Oh well!

FYI Both Acoustica Basic Edition and AV Audio Editor support multi-track editing.

Audacity is worth learning. I'm a female senior citizen and not into all the hardware that a lot of other posters here are BUT I desperately wanted to rid myself of all the cassette tapes in the house.

I had the correct cable to attach an old Sharp portable cassette player to a desktop computer and get the songs and old radio shows from the cassettes onto the computer.
Audacity did the job and also allows me to edit some mp3 songs I have.

If this "old lady" could figure it out, you should be able to too.

    Start here
    http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorials.html
find what you need and print out instructions.

I probably still have my printed cheat sheets because I don't use it enough to remember what I need to do.
