I have read up on all the tricks to remove unwanted spyware and have succeeded. However I am a curious individual whom would like to know what all of the programs are and why they are running upon start up. So far the only program I cannot seem to find any information on is the msnappu.exe. What is this program and do I need it running. Please help! I have posted my log file from Hijack This below.

Also I am having an intermittent problem on my PC and I do not know if it is spyware related or not. Sometimes when I start Internet Explorer my home page does not show up. Instead I get an error "this page could not load" My home page is set to MSN.COM, but whenever I get this error page I can still navigate to any other page on the web without any error pages loading up. My PC is hooked up to a network and uses a server to connect to the Internet. I know I am being vague but that is because I have no idea what client we are currently running on the server or if that is the cause of my problems. Many Thanks for the help!

It looks like that msnappau.exe is an auto-update program for MSN.
You are probly safe to remove it from your registry

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [msnappau] "C:\Program Files\MSN Apps\Updater\01.02.0002.1001\en-us\msnappau.exe"

    Also I noticed
    C:\Program Files\ScanSoft\OmniPageSE\opware32.exe
if you don't know what this is then you should also remove it.
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Omnipage] C:\Program Files\ScanSoft\OmniPageSE\opware32.exe

As far as your homepage not showing up, the next time it happens just refresh the page or goto a another one a return, if it catches then it's probly a setting on your server.

    Hope That Helped

Please do not make suggestions to delete things if you do not know what you are doing?
The opware32.exe items are for Omnipage's (easily recognized) OCR software. You could cause problems with pocket99's ability to use the Ominpage scanner for text conversions.

Also, check this link out on problems with not being able to load a page when starting IE. It could be a Winsock issue. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=811259

Thanks for the help, sorry about posting log file. The Opware32.exe file is used in conjunction with my Cannon Scanner and my graphic design programs. I just needed to know about the msnappau.exe file. This site is the best...it has saved me a ton of time and frustration with all this spyware and homepage hijacking. I especially found the Hijack This tutorial very useful. It is a definite must read for anyone new to "Hijack This" registry editor. Thanks again!!!
