what is the safest way to downgrade windows xp sp3 back to sp2

i was looking over the internet to find out why my dvd burner might not work and i think it's because my os is sp3 and people have been having problems with using dvd burners on sp3 is there a safe way to downgrade and maybe upgrade all over again (just to see if that is the problem)

Simply uninstall/remove SP3 and you are then free to reinstall SP2. Here's a link to help.
