Hello all... I'm planning on selling my old computer which i've had for about 2 years to my cousin because he is looking for a better comp than his... But I don't know what a good asking price is...

    Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

    AMD Athlon XP, 2083 MHz (12.5 x 167) 2600+

    MSI KT4V (MS-6712) (6 PCI, 1 AGP, 3 DIMM, Audio) motherboard

    1 Gig of DDR RAM

    ATi Radeon 9200 256mb

    160GB Hard drive

The case is a stock Time one which has DVD Multi Recorder and a DVD ROM
    Floppy Disk drive
Memory stick slot and 3 other slots on the front, which i'm not sure what they are for (network card possibly?)
    3 USB Ports (1 front, 2 back I believe)

I'm not sure what else needs listing to give a decent price estimate, so if there is anything i've missed off let me know... Thanks in advance.

I'd sell a comp like that in the uk for around £150 about $280,it all varies depending on how much they are selling for in your area

    Thanks for the reply Rikky

I think i'll flog it to him for £160 which will pay for my new speakers ;)... Or should i get a new monitor, hmm... But my cousin is abit brain dead when it comes to buying things like computers so I could probably get like £300 out of him haha, but i'm one of the good relatives :)

£160 is fair price for a family member some of the prices I see pc's advertised at make me laugh,I just checked a few of them now out of interest, for a computer similar to yours some people want like £300,I have no idea who would pay that when a dell 3.0 ghz base system that is faster and comes with a 17 inch lcd is and is only £289 with a 3 year warranty:confused:

May I ask what country your in mikal:confused:

I am English head to toe, that's if you disgard my Italian roots... But yeah, i'm from England, why do you ask?

I agree how stupid some systems aer being sold at such ridiculously prices, I suppose it's more for people who don't know much about comps and think £300... Must be better than that £200 one that we saw earlier.

While we're on the subject of comps and prices and stuff... Is this worth the money (and is what i'm getting)

    CPU - AMD® ATHLON® 64BIT 4000 (San Diago) 1MB L2 Cache (939 pin)

just easier for finding prices as you can see I'm also from the UK so I dont have to keep changing £ to $:) ,looks good at first glance a nice gaming comp for £820 'box only I assume',if you have a direct link to the site thats selling it that would be helpfull just copy and paste the site address into your next post or if someone is building it for you get a break down of the bill to see where you can save money and make sure you have links to the online price of each part then just tell he she to add on labour costs, alot of the time people make their money by buying inferior parts and overcharging you for them

A few areas to look into are the harddrive, memory and power supply the latter two are so often overlooked when buying a new system, the memory latency has quite a profound effect on system performance in these new a64 boards, and most of the peeps you ask in this forum would advise against buying a generic psu 'silent 550w sounds pretty generic to me',the psu is the backbone of system reliability :)

But remember the difference between what it's worth and how much you'd see it go in shops, I'd see something like that go for at least £1000.

The site where I got the specs from is www.pcspecialist.co.uk ... And that comp is near a grand, but I know someone who works for them and builds the machines, so I can get a nice little discount :) ... I only had like an £800 budget to spend on the box, and I thought this was a very nice machine for £820 (at discount), it's gonna be a pain trying to get it here before xmas though, maybe if I slip him a couple pennies he can speed up the process ;)
