    Repair them how?
What is wrong with your files?
    Do they play at all?

If you are using Windows XP, Windows Media Player 10 or 11 will play WMV files. If you use a Mac, the latest version of QuickTime will do the same. If
that doesn't help you may need to update the driver for video codecs.

In Windows XP - Open Control Panel -- Open "System" -- click on the "Hardware" tab -- click on "Device Manager" -- go down to "Sound, video and game controllers" -- Click on + then right click on Video codecs and update driver. Then exit and reboot. Try a WMV file and see.

I was thinking (after much searching found no free programs, and only a few questionable paid programs) that you could try a couple of different things here.... maybe convert the file to a different format using your favorite video converter and it may get 'repaired' in the process; or try using an editor and edit out the bad parts. If it's only a few frames here and there, you could probably just cut the frames out of the stream and you wouldn't even notice. One of the flavors of Virtual Dub should be able to do this for you; or use something like Cut Assitant or Kate's Cutter to help you with it (VDub is sometimes not real user friendly).... as mentioned above, it may be a codec issue. Try installing a good codec pack, or use something like the KLite TweakTool to scan for broken codecs and repair/remove them, or replace them.

    Good luck!

It is just 1 file. The video stops, but the sound continues.

    I was using VLC player.

    I am on Vista.

    Thank you all very much.

Try putting the fle into Windows Movie Maker (or its Vista equivalent)
Then save the file (I think it may be called publishing the file in Vista) to your HDD.

Have you checked for broken codecs? Have you checked the file with VirtualDub (or something similar) to see if it's even complete? Seems to me that if the picture stops, and the sound keeps going, that either the video stream is incomplete, or it's damaged in a bug way. Usually, if there's damage to the video stream, the video will continue to play through the damage, showing a messed up picture (or no picture) as it plays through the damaged section. But if there's no picture at all after a certain point, that tells me that the file isn't complete, that somehow the reast of the video stream is missing. If it's there and just damaged, a program like Virtual Dub will show you if the entire video stream is actually there and just not playing for whatever reason.
