    Hi
I am looking for a good Freeware Virusscanner with a good updatecenter and low systemusage. Which one do you prefer???

I use AVG, which has an active system monitor that uses relatively low resources, and automatically notifies you of updates frequently.

Here's a download link for AVG:

I use Avast also, and have had no problems, since swapping from Norton.

I agree. However, AVG is much more user friendly.

    Avast 4.6

AVS files updated almost daily. It has found and stopped viruses that Norton's did not even acknowledge.
I like Avast so much, I deleted Norton's (which i bought!) from my hard drive!

Edit by chaslang: Please use MG's links as I added below
    Avast! Home Edition
    Avast! 4 Professional Edition
(I have no relation to Avast....I just like their product!)

p.s.: You will still need a secondary spyware killer in addition to Avast (ie:
AdAware-SE which is also free -- you may be unpleasently surprised to see what had been sitting inside of your system without your knowledge!)

    Good Luck! :)

AVAST, its real easy to use. It really works. better than antivirus.

it also regularly updates keeping you well protected

I have read that is important not to have two antivirus programs intalled simultaneously. Is it bad to use EZ Trust Antivirus (Yahoo's built in anti-virus) in addition to AVAST?

I scan with Trend Micro's often.

    libratravel:

It is a good idea to have more than one updated antivirus program availabe to use on your system.
Sometimes one scanner will detect malware another will miss.

It is usually not a good idea to have more than one antivirus program running as resident in background.

    The two I use are:
AVG. I use this one mostly for its good behavior as resident.

    AVG Free Edition

AntiVir. This is the one I really depend on but run it manually only.
    AntiVir Personal Edition

    Happy trails

    No. It's a paid solution - NOD32 Antivirus System - with discounts for students/educational establishments and non-profits/charities.
