There seems to be a hundred "Malware" etc. removal tools out there and they all claim to be the best. I have tried several and they all seem to find something different right after running a different tool. I have been trying to find a tool to remove an AntiVirus 2009 infection and when looking for a program to remove it, several claim to be able to, but do not. I have used Malwarebytes on a couple of PCs before and it worked o.k. after a couple of passes, but this time on a different PC...I can't get the Malwarebytes to even open, telling me that the infection is worse this time.
I was just wondering what others have had the best luck with in these types of tools for Malware, Spyware, and Virus removal overall from experience in use.

    Thank you!!!!

If you cannot get SAS or MBAM to run continue on and try running Combofix and MGTools.exe and let us know how you get on.

Just for reference I will post the link to our entire malware removal procedure:

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

    Notes:
    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, You can try running steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

Thank you for your guidance. I was able to clean the system with PC Pitstops new "Exterminator" malware removal. It was VERY thorough and I used it on a couple of other PCs and it found and cleaned a few things that were being missed by other cleaners.
    Thanks again for your help.

It is entirely up to you whether you follow my above original instructions or not...many people feel overwhelmed by our procedures but I can assure you that it is written very precisely and clearly and with a little patience, can be carried out easily.

I can also say almost surely that "Exterminator" may have missed something that our tools wouldn't have...but again....entirely up to you...if you are going to finish now and not follow our procedures please let me know so I can class your thread as "done with" :) Kindest regards

    Thanks
