When trying to download 'exe' files, IE crashes

    IE has started to freeze everytime I try to DL 'exe' files. Every other DL file type is ok. This has just started to happen. I tried to DL IE to reinstall but , of course, IE froze yet again!!!

    Is this viral activity? (Or dumb operator activity?)

    What Operating system are you using? 95, 98, ME, 2000, xp?

    What version of IE are you using? 4, 5, 5.5, 6, 6 sp1?

    Have you tried, right clicking "save target as" on the link, then saving? (possible workaround / doesn't solve the question)

    I wonder if perhaps your OS (Operating System) has run on all .exe files, upon download. This could be an issue.

    Oh sorry, forgot the basics - System is XP; IE 6 sp2.

    I have tried the 'save as' route but it ends up the same way with IE freezing. (It was the first thing I tried.)
