    Hi,
New member here, although I have been helped numerous times in the past few years by the brilliant work you guys do here. Putting this here as I am still not sure of the right place to put it.

My Windows 7 laptop has been running slowly and/or restarting intermittently for a few weeks now. Had problems installing windows updates and playing games and even running simple tasks like chkdsk at times, so I have done the routine of cleaning browser and temp files, chkdsks, scannow, used CCleaner, ran Malware Anti-Bytes, Spybot scans, MSE and DrWebCureit scans and nothing has been helping.

Yesterday I started going through your sticky on Malware Removal after reinstalling Spybot and finding a reference to a suspicious MBR PhysicalDrive0 which I was unable to clean/quarantine etc.

After doing all the recommended steps and scans I now have the added annoyance of this xsherlock which I have never heard of, I'm no pro but I am not bad at my own online security, nothing like this has happened for at least 2 years. It's either me or my son who has unwittingly brought some nasty little enemies in.

Anyway I digress, I have the following:

    RKreport,
mbam log (came up clear, so you may not need this one uploading),
    TDSSKiller log,
    HitmanPro log.
    a zip file called MGlogs.zip
and although I am aware you are only supposed to upload 5 files, I ran another RK after all these steps and it had changed from 255kb on the first log to 296kb on the second one, a difference while small, has left me thinking you may need to see that one too.

I am prepared to upload these as and when you ask.

I would be grateful for any help and will be checking for replies until late this afternoon when I will hopefully then be going out to celebrate not dying today. :-D

    Debbie xx

I am off out very soon and will no doubt have a hangover tomorrow so I thought I would upload the scans first to be going on with.

This one is the second RK one I did after the rest. Because it differed from the first I thought it might be relevant.

Thanks again to anyone kind enough to give this their attention :)

Thank you so much Chaslang :)
Wonder why Spybot said the MBR was dodgy?
It's a relief to know my security is doing it's job right still.

Thank you so much for dealing with this Chaslang :)

It's a relief to know my security is still doing it's job. Wonder why Spybot reported a problem with the MBR though?

Sorry about the similar two posts there, I didn't realise they had to be approved and thought the first one didn't work. xx

    You're welcome.
It probably is not standard Windows default MBR which Spybot recognizes. Many PC vendors put in their own versions of MBRs and partitions.

Since you are not having malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Go back to step 4 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
