Recently had to reinstall Windows XP, it is perfect now. I am convinced that part of the problem that caused the need to reinstall was registry tweaks not intended by do all registry apps. I do believe that registry clean up is necessary, but which registry app can one trust. The Registry page at Major Geeks has what, maybe 50 or more, and all can't be completely flawless. I'd be curious what the whole team at Major Geeks has to think about, if I had only one registry app, to clean, fix, and optimze, which one would that be, which one is error free and completely trustworthy?

'Messing' with the registry is always risky if you don't know what you're doing.
Some apps tend to be a bit too 'aggressive', others too 'meek'.
I have found a good combo is CCleaner's Issues...definately have it make a backup!
I also use TweakNow Reg Cleaner Pro and it automatically makes a backup.
So far I haven't had any problems using those two apps.
TweakNow Pro has a registry compacter.
