who agrees that the forced updates in windows 10 isn't worth it?
i know it's early in windows 10 life and i will get better, but today i was playing dc universe online and while i was in a mission it froze on me hard, so i had to hard restart my pc and when it loaded it gave me a message saying it's installing updates!:mad
i'm going to go bad to running windows 7 64 bit at least it gave me a whole lot less issues.

Wow, have not seen that here yet. Can't you set your options to notify OR schedule a certain day? Check your options to defer or manually update.

all i ever found in windows 10 64 bit windows update in it's options other then option to downloas updates for microsoft products, was an option to manually restart windows after updating.
they need to go back to letting the user to selecy what updates they want and not have them forced down their throats!:***

If you can't defer updates then you don't have Windows 10 Pro.

i have home edition and i don't use defer since it only delays updates (it doesn't let you opted out of them).:tas

My whole point of upgrading to 8.1 pro and now I'm on 10 pro was choosing what updates I want installed. But, now it is a pain to find out what updates to install quickly. I have to look up the KB's manually. Microsoft has really dumbed down the update process. Give me back the reading of what i'm downloading and installing.

And, yes, this is my only gripe. Everything else is great.

Windows 10 (Professional) does not automatically install all available updates; I always have to check manually for updates. There are always a few that have not been installed.

    My updates install perfectly.
When I manualy check for updates, it only gives me the optional ones.

Running Win 10 Pro on both (32 and 64) bit systems.

    Hi

While you would really want to update Windows always to keep current with inbuilt apps and security, plus as Windows 10 is Windows as a Service it means that to get new features and inbuilt apps you will need to update. Windows 10 will be a rollup OS from now on in that you will not see Windows 11, 12, 13 etc as Win10 will continually update and be that new OS.

Win10 Home is more limited than its Pro big brother but the below could work for you in Home version

I dont know if in Settings > Update > Advanced that Notify to schedule restart would be a option that may not interfere with gameplay, not tried it yet to see, but possible you may get a right hand side popup to alert a restart so may hamper gameplay, worth a try though.

Alternate I can think of and I dont have Win10 Home to test is to in Services to stop or disable Windows (wuauserv) Update service before gameplaying and enable after to get updates,

BUT I would keep Win10 updated as you say its early days and the OS will have some update for security as well as smoother running.

a little pain but thats the reason some would not update this way you get it if you want it or not and most of you dont know what the up date is for to start with.
