Every time I boot my sys up CHKDSK runs. It has been happening for a week now.

    It doesn't find any probs.

It started immediately after a power outage to the house.

    Yours in puzzlement :confused

    XP pro 32 bit
    Quad core AMD Phenom 2300
    4 gig ram

Do you have a usb thumb drive anywhere on your computer?

Or it could be an error within:

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager

BootExecute key should have the following: autocheck autochk *

Of course this is default, and you need to be careful not to mess anything up. Backups are very helpful.

It could also be a sign if your hard drive failing. I would backup stuff just to be safe.
