WHY!!! ISnt There

Why isnt there a "FREE" all in one driver updater. There used to be but Zdnet closed it down. Or maybe there is one out there that i dont know about. Anyway thoughts or answers. Just wondering.

 

Because it takes a programmer to make one? Also it would be quite a daunting task to collect and figure out what devices you have among the gazillions of pieces of hardware that have been out in the market. And on top of that to find out where an applicable (working/compatible) driver would be located.

There are "driver updater" softwares out there but possibly contain malware. Also these driver finders won't have the best driver for you.

Majority of users either use Windows Update as it does do some driver update detection or others find their drivers for their machine on brand websites (HP, Dell, etc).

Users also identify their devices using Everest or similar and then search.

The only driver I find that requires updating is for the graphics chipset. Websites such as nVidia are now implementing detection of devices to find out whether an update is available.

I would rather update drivers myself rather than a 3rd party so that I know what is being installed/updated. I don't want a bum driver to crash my system.

 

I hav used driver genius to check for up-to -date drivers, you can then download and install htem through the software
