Why does outlook icon remain in system tray, after closure?
And when I hover over it it disappears!!
Also, I have had a few .pst file errors and had to repair.
    Using Outlook 2007.

    HI

AT times many various icons hang in the system tray until you mouse over them and they refresh and disapear (can disable it if you dont like the tray icon), I have similar in my remote access Citrix icon, causes no issues though, are you on an Exchange Server or home internet?

Is Office 2007 fully upto date?

as for PST errors, the tray icon remaining would be last thought of mine in causing corruption in a PST, would need to look at something else as the cause, be it antivirus (if it has office add-on), firewall, or a 3rd party Outlook add-on and to test that you can disable add-ons in the Tools > Trust Centre > Add-ins > click GO next to COM add-ins and then disable all or any non-microsoft ones and restart Outlook.

But an error message would help if you gained one that was related to the PST issue.

    Thanx for reply...
I'd prefer to retain, its just that I haven't seen this occur previously.
    I'm using a home internet/broadband, and Outlook 2007 IS up-to-date.

.pst error happened a while ago, and i didn't write down (or can't remember) if there was an error message.
Anyway, it told to to use scanpst to fix, which it seems to have done so.
I use Trend Micro Internet Security 2008.

    Hi Smurph

I notice this on occasion both at home and in work with outlook 2007 and other applications, guess at times the refresh of the Sys Tray is not as quick as it should be, wouldn't think that the notification area needs a clear out, as it doesn't automatically remove old unused icons, but doesn't hurt to cleanse it, but not imperative to do so though as you've not noticed this happen again.

Yes Scanpst is a great recovery and fix app.
