...that is what I was told by the cable guy, can that be true?

Is there a way I can use the Wii on my Panasonic PT-60LCX63 DLP TV without prematurely burning out my lamp?

  2. I know this is an older post...but no solutions were offered...so, here ya go!

    Cable guy said that...
Well in a way, he's not lying...but that's like saying that driving your car can cause tire wear. Duh!!!! :heli

One of my cousins has a 50" Panasonic Flat TV...had it for 3 years now and it's been repared 3 times for a burnt lamp (Which isn't all that hard to replace, apparently) They don't have a Wii, they only use it for regular viewing (TV & movies) I think it's fairly common (and unfortunate) for large screen TV's. Prevention is probably your only solution. Don't Turn it on/off rapidly and definitly don't shake the TV unit (Like when you walk right in front of the unit and the floor vibrations shake the unit) I've heard that using a surge protector with battery backup could help.

My husband and I have been using a PS3 (way higher graphical demands) and briefly an Xbox 360 on our DLP TV for over two years now, without the lamp suffering noticeably. If our PS3 didn't burn out the bulb, neither will you Wii. Your cable guy is full of it.
