Wild Tangent is not truly malware. It is more like junkware that has no business being on most peoples PCs since they probably do not use it and probably never will. It comes bundled with AOL too. If you did not ask for it, they should not be installing it. But Dell and other put a ton of unnecessary garbage on their PCs. AOL and WildTangent are just two of the things most people will not need.

However WildTangent does gather info about your computer system including the below:

• Operating System Version
• CPU Type and Speed
• Memory Amount
• Video Card type and Driver Version
• Sound Card type and Driver Version
• DirectX Version
• Location that the Web Driver was installed from

Whenever I get a new PC that from a manufacturer like this, the absolute first thing I do (and I mean the first) is to uninstall all this junk. AOL is always first to go, WildTangent next. And then the following go bye-bye BigFix, McAfee or Symantec trials (depends which one they put on), MS Office trial and other trialware. Then any company related support crap that they load at startup.

Obviously there may be some people out there who want/use WildTangent. So it is up to them. But most scanners will detect it and remove it. There are a ton of entries added to the registry for WildTangent.
