Win 98 Start Up Prob

Greetings All -
Have a Win98 PC. Had probs starting up so I started in safe mode or at least tried to. Safe Mode had same problem returning a message of...
"While Initializing Device VFBACKUP could not load VFD.VXD Please run setup again"

Trying to save a few of the files in My Douments if possible.

Any help, as usual, is greatly appreciated.

how do i put the win.com back on my computer?

 

BB, welcome to MG, but please start your own thread in future as it can cause confusion. I'm a bit confused by your request. Win.com starts Windows (it is in C:\windows folder). If you can start up Windows then you don't have to put in back on your computer. Did you send this from your own PC, or someone elses? Bazza
