Win Xp (Home) freezes at startup

Hi I'm having some serious problems with my laptop.

I recently contracted some spyware and have since not being able to boot into normal mode. It jst freezes on the "windows is starting up screen..."

This also happens with 'safe mode with networking' however I can boot up in safe mode. In safe mode I've manged to fix and delete all spyware using ad aware, spy sweeper, spybot S&D, NAV, ccleaner.

But when I reset into normal mode it still freezes at the same point.

I then booted up with the WinXP Home cd-rom to repair my windows installation. This gets me into normal mode, I do all checks for viruses and its clean. However soon as I reset and restart I'm back to where I started... freezing at "windows is starting up"

Any ideas?

 

Repairing your Registry might help.

Start > Run and type scanregw /fix and press
enter.This will fix any damage done to the Registry.

Hrmmm. Isn't scanregw a windows 9x feature? Not xp?

@v_2: So, safe mode works, but normal mode does not at normal boot-up?

Have you tried:

START, RUN, type in: msconfig (press enter) then either try click the radial button ( ) Diagnostic startup. OR. Selective startup, unchecking "Load Startup Items". Press OK, then restart?
