Does anyone know a tweak on how to stop recently opened programs or apps from being shown on the startup menu?

    I'm running Win XP pro.

    Muchos appreciatos to all replies,

Thanks, Robo - I guess I wasn't clear on what I was trying to do.

What I want is to not have recently used programs "pin" themselves to my start menu automatically. I've unchecked this box in the "Advanced" tab in "Customize Start Menu" - but it is still happening.

    TIA

Start button, select Properties, select Customize, select General, set the "Number of programs on Start Menu" to Zero.
Then just pin the ones you want to be there.
