Help if you can. I just installed Windows 2000 server and am trying to configure and run IIS. When I try to start it I get this:

"The service did not repond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"

and thats it. No other errors. Any clues?

    Hi Rick,

Make sure that "Client for Microsoft Networks" protocol is installed on your system.

For this, right click on any of your dial connection or network connection. In 'network' tab make sure "Client for Microsoft Networks" is shown there. If not install the protocol by clicking 'install' and select 'client'.Then select "Client for Microsoft Networks".

Hope this will solve your problem.

    Steve

Also, check your event viewer, there maybe some helpful info there. Also your services.
