i have just purchased windows 2003 server small business edition.
i need to know whether i can use the features, such as active directory to control users and shares etc over a wireless network???
I'm sure i can but any information on it would be great.

    thanks

active directory ect should not be affected by the way you connect to your network

    i am not expert but

using wires or wireless should work fine

IMX, it's generaly easier to join a device to a domain while it's connected to a wired port.

In order to authenticate to a domain, you need to be able to get an IP address before logon. Wired ports do this automatically. Depending on how your wireless network is set up, you may need special software to enable this. At my workplace, we use Cisco LEAP to handle wireless authentication and encryption. That requires special software to authenticate to get an IP address before domain authentication can take place.

How is your wireess network set up? If it's basic (static) WEP encryption and a normal SSID, it's pretty easy. I think MS's basic wireless service in WinXP can handle it with no problems.
