Ok guys, I'm new here. Anyway, I need my computer for school. While I was looking up stuff for my English class, one of my programs (I can't remember which one, Java maybe or maybe the Automatic Windows Update one or w/e) said it had finished downloading files and needed to reboot. I did so. When it started back up again I noticed the Bar at the top that has like Music and you click on it and it pops up shortcuts to icons wasn't there. I looked up how to bring it back and none of the stuff worked. So I decided to do a system restore to a few days before and then I would just reinstall those updates. Problem solved right? I thought so too.

Now when I started up again I noticed that my McAfee Virus protection, IM protection and I believe Email protection was off. They were ON before the System Restore and OFF after. Well I tried to turn them ON. Both clicking them on Manually and clicking the FIX button. Everytime it says, Action could not be performed due to an error. I tried to run a scan but it couldn't. I thought, "Oh no a virus is in McAfee :O:O:O" :cry:cry I tried to access my internet but everytime it says "Loading..." on the tab and within .000001 of a second. It turns to (Invalid) or something. I don't have the infected computer close by so I can't post what it actually says. I checked the internet and tried to troubleshoot it but there are NO PROBELMS DETECTED. So now I know it must be a virus.

I have downloaded HiJackThis and LSP FIX to my USB flash drive as I saw in a post about this same problem but 5 years ago. I have those just in case. I'm gonna run a HiJackThis log tonight and post results tomorrow. I'm really nervous cause I've only had the computer under 5 months. I'm just gonna post the results tomorrow.

I got nervous and got on my iPod Touch to look up how to solve this. I tried going into Safe Mode with Networking but for some reason my wireless internet doesn't show up while in Safe Mode. Any help would be appreciated.

PS: If nothing works I might do the System Repair function that game with the computer. I'm saving that as a last resort.

Ok, I tried to edit it wouldn't let me so I'm going to post again. I went into Safe Mode with Command Prompt and started rstrui.exe and did System Restore that way. It turns out my drivers got all messed up. McAfee then removed the trojan. I'm clear now, I hope. Anyway. Thanks for reading my post if you did.
