Hi all, I am in the process of installing Windows 7 and each time the installer gets to a certain point it asks for a cd driver and since I don't have one it fails. Why? It obviously can read the cd or it wouldn't be installing.

It helps if you mention the brand and exact model of computer you are working on.

Have to agree with plodr in that knowing the make and model of the computer would be helpful. Also it would be useful to know whether you are using retail disk or a burned iso. to install with, and whether it is a clean install or an upgrade.

Didn't realize that this was such a problem for some people until reading your post and researching a bit! :)

    Hi

If ISO in answering Novice's post above then re-burn it at the slowest speed with IMGBurn

If this is an install from a Factory Reset option then again let us know what make and model you have,

Is the DVD drive a SATA one as you may need to pop the SATA drivers onto USB pen to install at the start of the Windows install, where you can install additional drivers, but as mentioned this we can know better with your model and make.

Also unplug any additional external drives (includes printer as some have media storage options) while you are installing.
