    muddy123 I can't follow the rules

some guy used his friends version of windows/7 , without using the activation code, installed windows/7 on top of a linux/ or in place of a linux operating system:, installed windows/7, it is up and running; he says he is getting a message from microsoft saying he has 30 days to 'activate' the operating system ? i was going to buy this used gaming desktop, when he told me about this: what is the worst case scenario ? will i have to buy/install windows after this 'grace period ' ? thanks

    window/7 : legal copy ?

how can i find out if the used desktop gaming computer i'm going to buy has a legal / non-temporary copy of windows/7 on it ? the guy i was going to buy the computer from said he installed windows/7 , using a friends copy and did not use the product/activation key, he said there's a 30-day trial period, now he says he's loaded an unofficial activation code and the warning about the 30-day grace period is gone, that there is no problem now: how can i check to make sure windows/7 won't become disabled at some future date ? thanks

You don't know how long that 'fix' will last so don't bother with the machine.

That says it all. You can't install the OS on two computers. The fact that he disabled/hacked the activation code, tells you he knows it isn't legal. If it were, he would have activated it - no biggie to do this on a legal install.

You cannot know as mentioned, you never know when an update my just overwrite a specific file, Windows Updates and/or the activation server can disable specific hacks and as the bold red text highlighted above speaks volumes as to this not being a legit version of Windows then this topic has ended.

Majorgeeks do not condone the use of illegal versions of software, keygens and such so please do not mention these topics again as this forum and website is a business and not some hobby site, so we have to keep topics of discussion in the realms of legality.

Please do not start a new topic on the same subject, cheers.
