    I posted a thread a few days ago about recent BSOD messages and I've been told that it might be a root-kit infection. The BSOD has stopped after a few days, but my computer is freezing very frequently. Here are the logs of the scans.
    Note: I wasn't able to run RootRepeal since I've been getting Error messages everytime I try to run it.

    What are you currently using for anti-virus??

    Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    DirLook::
    C:\Users\LuLu LaLa\AppData\Roaming\kock
    C:\Users\LuLu LaLa\AppData\Roaming\5015
    C:\kock
    C:\Users\LuLu LaLa\AppData\Roaming\UAs
    C:\Users\LuLu LaLa\AppData\Roaming\xmldm

    FileLook::
    C:\Users\LuLu LaLa\AppData\Roaming\D146.D2A

    File::
    c:\users\LuLu LaLa\AppData\Roaming\srvblck2.tmp
    C:\Users\LuLu LaLa\AppData\Local\87f84b07txx0r24302jh1v
    C:\Users\LuLu LaLa\AppData\Local\p1bu2ri321xilw08u32yl2wnnkws
    C:\Users\LuLu LaLa\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Templates\87f84b07txx0r24302jh1v
    C:\Users\LuLu LaLa\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Templates\p1bu2ri321xilw08u32yl2wnnkws
    C:\ProgramData\5a047yj0l43lso6hu151qdq2r625qq0
    C:\ProgramData\5tj76a8lhem5hw5065kc0t1ls4prx67h17ci0hn6l4qr
    C:\ProgramData\87f84b07txx0r24302jh1v
    C:\ProgramData\p1bu2ri321xilw08u32yl2wnnkws

    Registry::
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{171DEBEB-C3D4-40b7-AC73-056A5EBA4A7E}]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670}]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670}\NoExplorer]

    Folder::
    C:\ProgramData\ParetoLogic
    C:\Users\LuLu LaLa\AppData\Roaming\ParetoLogic
    C:\Program Files\ParetoLogic
    C:\Program Files\Object
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      [IMG]

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    If after running Combofix you discover none of your programs will open up, and you recieve the following error: "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion". Then the answer is to REBOOT the machine, and all will be corrected.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

    You did not answer my questions about antivirus or how things are running at this point! :)

    Delete these folders:

    c:\windows\048298C9A4D3490B9FF9AB023A9238F3.TMP
    C:\kock

    Could you please get this: D146.D2A into a zipped file and attach it for me in your next post? To do this, see the below:

    Please go to start > Run and paste in the following:
    log retrievable @ C:\collect.zip

    Please go to virustotal and upload the following files for analysis, and let me know the results.

    c:\users\LuLu LaLa\AppData\Roaming\D146.D2A

    It's mostly still the same. A few freezes there and then but it'll start to work in around 15-30 seconds. It's still irritating at some points but the BSOD messages have stopped. Here's the file as directed.

    You attached the wrong thing. No matter, we may try again later, it may be valid, but did you see what Virus total had to report? :confused

    Oh, I see what you mean. McAfee identified it as BackDoor-EXI!conf while the others showed no results. Here's the files

    It contains information regarding a proxy, with a number of 7600. Familiar? I think you should delete the file, surf around a while and see if any harm has been done which I doubt, by deleting it.

    Do this anyway after deleting:

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required (If we renamed it please rename it back to Combofix.exe.
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
      related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
        for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    Well, if I don't run anything besides Firefox, there's close to no freezing. However, most of the games installed on this PC like Fable III would use up most of my CPU and causes frequent freezing, something that never happened before. I was wondering if the virus messed with my window files or is it overheating?

    Doubt it is anything malware related. You can post about in it another appropriate area of the forum. :)
