    Hey all,

so i've been experiencing abnormally slow start ups on my pc. The main drive is a western digital caviar black 1tb. After booting up the system will almost be completely unusable for 3-5mins. After everything finally loads you will hear the windows sound that should play within the first few seconds of booting after 3+mins. I have disabled many programs on startup which you can view in my attached screenshot [IMG]

I've also ran crystal disk and everything appears to be fine

I've run a chkdsk r which i've pasted the text results below.

Of the 11 programs I see that are enabled, disable the following

    2. Logitech Gaming Framework (you can run it as needed)
    3. NVIDIA GeForce Experience
    4. Google Update
    5. Google Chrome

    6. USB 3.0 Monitor
    7. ? I can't see all of AcroTray can you please tell me what Dis... is
    8. disable StereoLinksInstall and then if need, enable it

Can you also post more of the entries that are running at startup so I can determine if others can be disabled.

Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and disabled all start up items except the 2 avira items listed and didn't really notice much of a difference in start up time. the items that were not not visible in the msconfig were already disabled I only showed what I had enabled in that image. I'm more concerned about the random disk usage I get while gaming which is hindering my gaming.

I don't game so I have nothing to offer there.

If you disabled 8 startup items and noticed no difference in the startup time and the computer is not usable for 3 - 5 minutes, then you need to look at the health of your hard drive with a different tool and your antivirus. Perhaps Avira is scanning things as you game.
    Is it an online game?

You might try turning off Avira auto update and any boot time scan feature if it has it. I used to game and turned off all auto updating, including windows. Just remember to do them manually on a regular basis.

Yep they are online games. I might try disabling avira altogether. Only had enough time to perform a quick test. The other one seemed to be for bad sectors which i've already checked using chkdsk.

Good for you is to run Extended Test checking your hdd , take a picture of your hdd's sentinel report , maybe your hdd is faulty , may you have to replace it , do you have another back up of your data ? If not you could buy an external hdd , is your psu right ? You may trying to check with another psu , many times these symptoms is causing by faulty psu
