Windows 7 SP 1 fail to download

I'm at my wits end...W7 SP1 does not install. I've downloaded the system updae readiness tool and tried to install SP1 and got a message to restart computer to finish installation however, that did not work. What am I doing wrong - anyone?

Are you trying to install via windows update or via direct download from MS...
there have been a few people who have had problems installing SP1 especially on 64 bit systems (don't know if you have 32 or 64 bit system)...
I would advise to go via the direct route from MS...
