Just curious how many think getting Windows 7 to replace XP will be a better upgrade for your money than newer hardware.

It will be less money to upgrade for Vista users; but so far IMHO Vista is the same OS as Windows 7 for most users. When my RC stops I will have to decide, but right now I am leaning towards a new CPU rather than moving from XP.

Ya, especially if you have a single cored CPU and your mobo supports a dual, the difference is like day and night if you're a heavy user like me transcoding vidoes etc.! If it's just getting a faster CPU, I personally don't think it's worth it but then it depends on what you do with your PC.

As to buying a copy of W7, hard to say as that depends on how long you plan to keep your current PC. I'd stick with XP since it's an either/or choice here, I'd go for a dual instead if you don't already have one.
