Windows 8.1 font faded/shadow

All of sudden my Windows 8.1 fonts get faded with shadow on top. See screen shot which looks not that bad but much worse on my screen.

I've tried Performance/Visual/uncheck shadow ... but did not work.

I can't see it from the screenshots, but:

Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Display (DPI settings)

Uncheck "Let me choose one scaling level on all my displays"

Click Ok.

See if that helps.

 

Thanks for the quick response but that did not work. I got some error message about backgroundcontainer.dll not found when it happened.

Can you reinstall your video drivers?

 

Video driver reinstalled, but that didn't help.

 

Does it happen in Safe Mode?

 

Also, backgroundcontainer.dll idicates there is likely malware on this machine. You might want to run through the readmes in the malware forum.

Tried and followed the direction to remove malware/spyware, but still no luck. May have to give up but appreciate your help.
