Windows Automatic Update not installing

I have several Windows Updates that will not install through the Automatic Update feature in Windows. When I try to run the install, I get a failure message for all:

Some updates could not be installed
The following updates were not installed:

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.0 Service Pack 3 (KB930494)
Update for Windows XP (KB930916)
Update for Windows XP (KB916595)
Office 2003 Service Pack 3 (SP3)
Update for Outlook Junk Email Filter 2003 (KB942571)
Update for Windows XP (KB922582)
Update for Windows XP (KB920872)
Update for Windows XP (KB910437)
Security Update for Windows Media Player 6.4 (KB925398)
Update for Windows XP (KB936357)
Update for Windows XP (KB927891)
Project 2003 Service Pack 3 (SP3)
Update for Windows XP (KB900485)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB924667)
Update for Windows XP (KB938828)

It would seem that I can run them manually, but clearly there is something wrong with it. I just finished a malware cleaning [thread here] and I didn't know if it was related but it was suggested that I try here for some help.

I wanted to add something I noticed when I was working on your logs. In most people's logs, they have two entries for windows updates where you only have one. In HijackThis, they look like this:

O16 - DPF: {6E32070A-766D-4EE6-879C-DC1FA91D2FC3} (MUWebControl Class) - http://www.update.microsoft.com/mic...ls/en/x86/client/muweb_site.cab?1193086799203
The number at the end is always different, but otherwise they look the same. In your HJT, only the MU shows up. I don't know if this might help you further, but if there's a registry key missing, this could explain some of the problems you've been having and it would make sense for an infection to take out Windows updates if it could.
