Windows Backup creating extra folders in system image

I used Windows Backup to create a system image of my baseline computer setup with 3 physical HDDs (Drive C is my Windows 7 Ultimate drive, and Drives D &E are Data drives; D has some folders in it). When I recovered that image to bring my computer back to baseline, the folder tree I have in D shows up in E as well, where I don't want them. However, when I delete them and restart my computer, they show up in my E drive again, so I suspect there's a registry key somewhere that is making this happen.

Does anyone know either enough about Backup and Restor to explain to me why this is happening, or a direction to point me in so I can learn myself? Having the folders there is annoying, but it's not "Pay Microsoft 100$ so they can answer this question in 10 minutes" annoying.
