My motherboard became fried and when I got a new one I could not boot windows xp from my old hard drive. I had some important files that were encrypted with the old operating system, and a bunch more that were in my old account that I can't access when I connect my old HD to the new system.

Is there any way to unencrypt my files, or access things from my old account that I had with the old operating system?
I've tried to just unencrypt the encrypted ones, but it won't work.

    Thanks for any ideas

If they were truly encrypted, usign EFS, it is unlikely you will get them back short of contacting a data recovery company.

I've not seen any brute force EFS crackers out there.
