    Hey guys,

    I know this is a common problem and have searched the internet before posting but I think my problem is a fair bit unique compared to the others...

    Basically a few weeks ago I downloaded a film which, whenever you clicked on the folder, it would crash and bring on that error, 'Windows Explorer has stopped working...'
    Now that's fine but last night I was doing a disk cleanup and whilst I was deleting the recommended bits and bobs (saved error reports, etc) I accidently clicked on that films folder which then crashed my cleanup and from then on, I've been getting this error consistently and it won't let up.

    I went on safe mode and it didn't pop up as it usually does, so I thought this was a good sign, and I proceeded to restore my windows to about last week and it still appears.. on that note, is there a more vigirous restore option to an earlier point that might cure it yet not wipe my drive clean? When restoring I didn't mess with any of the options to it, as my knowledge with these things isn't so vast.

    That's it, pretty much... if you need any information that might help you enable me to resolve this then please ask away. I'm keeping reinstalling windows as a very last option as that would be a fair bit of hassle however if it's the only thing that'll work, then so be it.

    I don't know if this is useful information to you lot, but first of all I'm using Windows 7 and second, when clicking on the problem details this is what appears;

    Exception Code c0000005 is often caused by faulty ram and we must eliminate that as a problem, first.
    Go get the free download at http://www.memtest86.com and, if you don't know how to burn an ISO file, read their instructions. Burn it to a CD and then boot it (usually ESCape, F10, or F12 when the machine's logo is displayed before Windows boots to get a boot menu) Let it run at least 45 minutes. If no errors appear, yeeha! If any do, you need to take out memory until it does run clean.
    Once your memory is confirmed good, do Start, and in the search box type CMD<CTRL-SHIFT_ENTER> to launch an elevated command prompt. In that window, type CHKDSK C: /F<ENTER> Windows will say it can't be run now; but, do you want to schedule it for the next boot. Say yes and reboot.
    Pray a little!
