Windows hanging from just watching video- HELP!

Hi, im not actually sure if this is the right section to post this problem.. cos i cant exactly figure out the source of the problem..

Firstly, i must note that i have follow the XP cleaning procedure and no malware was found. Right, Onwards to the problem i am facing.

My Notebook hp dv6000 will just hang if there is any attempt to play any video. The same will occur if attempt to play my games, 3D ones to be exact. it will last normally for a few seconds before the screen go to mono colour(black, brown, grey, etc) and hang there. had no choice but to hold my power button and off it.

meanwhile, i can do anything else fine.

Ive tried:
1) reinstalling direct X.
2) reinstalling and updating my graphic driver.

it doesn't work for me.

any help would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

 

If you google, you'll find that the HPdv6000 series has a history of bad GPU's.

 

meaning theres no way to save my notebook huh?:yum

 

I don't know where you're at but I've seen listings on E-Bay that supposedly can fix the problem.

Sadly to say, it may be less expensive to get a new laptop at Tiger Direct or some other place.:cry

You probably should have installed the chipset driver.
Your video is a chip on the motherboard.

 

im sorry, but it didn't help. i had changed my OS to Windows XP Professional Edition when i bought it. Right now, the youtube videos seems fine, but my games still cant work, i.e. frozen throne, aika, etc. it will display a blank screen after working normally for like 30 secs. then a LOUD beep is heard. thats all. i had to do a hard restart. any further solutions for me?
